Survivor cancer from bladder cancer: Joe Castro
Vincent suggested I explore Electro Cautery (burning it out) and when I brought it up to the Urologist, he said he would not do that. Three weeks later when I said, "in the event you discover a small........" and before I finished, he said, "we'll burn it out right here in the office"????????????????? That was the second time this Urologist, a Board certified member of a leading Uro team 'came around' to something Vincent brought up. That reminded me of Janet, from the list who was scheduled for a breast operation and he suggested to her that she explore Radio Frequency Ablation (RFA) which she did and about which her surgeon said, "that will be the wave of the future" but, of course, never suggested it to Janet. The RFA was done, with little effort and as an out-patient procedure. Just another 'cutting edge' suggestion from one of our favorite list members.
After that tumor was resected in January '04, I had six weekly BCG treatments. BCG is an Immunotherapy procedure whereby it is instilled into the bladder via a Cystoscope and catheter. Held for two hours then voided out. The expected result? An aggravation of the bladder causing the immune system to kick in. Before doing the BCG, I read that a certain Vitamin protocol was supposedly effective along with the BCG. This from one of the leading Uros in the nation with my Uro saying, "he's the man". Name? Dr. Lam. However this local office does not do the protocol and there is some question about the results. I did not use the 'recommended' brand but my own exactly similar protocol
25,000 Vit A, 1000 Vitamin C, (I now do upwards of 18 Gs a day) B6 100mg
and 90mg Zinc.
In my heart of hearts I would that whatever I do alternatively is what has kept me clear to date. However, should I care? Isn't the end result to have a 'sustained' remission? Should I care whether or not BCG, a live version of the TB virus, was the
reason?
This much I can tell you. There will be no more BCG as there are risks involved and going to the well too often and we get wet!
I have declined all exploratory biopsies to avoid the 'seeding' issue as well as no longer getting CT-Scans. I know there have been improvements in X-Ray equipment but I believe we all understand the amount of exposure one can get from CT-Scans. In 1952 a VA doctor suggested that I have had my life's share of X-Rays.
Since that May '04 resection I have had two short courses of Vitamin C IV at 100,000mgs a pop. Short because it is just too expensive at $110 ea.
During the year I do the usual Vitamin protocol with individual vitamins such as 50,000 Vit A using Emulsified Dry A. Upwards of 18G of Ascorbic Acid, now doing curcumin at between 1,200 and 1,500 mgs a day, Kyolic Garlic at 1,800mgs, Melatonin 9 mgs, Lots of Sun (Florida sun chasing my 5 yr old grandson around), Tired yet?
For the last two months I have been doing a lot of Pau D'Arco tea, another suggestion from, you know who, and my breakfast consists almost exclusively of the Budwig Flaxseed Oil/Cottage Cheese mixture. My recent addition has been Barlean's brand flaxseed oil. Besides their good deal for cancer patients, I do find their product the finest I've used. I previously used Vitamin Shoppe's brand which is bottled by Spectrum.
After my first tumor was discovered and resected back in 2000, I did a lengthy and extensive Apricot Pit effort with poor results. However, as I've stated before, this is no condemnation on the use of Apricot pits, just that not everything works for all people all the time.
I am not following a strict diet, not that I have no confidence in that approach, for I really do, it is just that I am not 'towing the mark' so to speak however I am being a lot more careful than in the past. My problem is that I have known of the 'better way' since aged 10 because of a 'kooky' aunt and uncle that believed in natural living. In fact, I fasted for 30 days (only water) back in the mid 50s at the Herbert M. Shelton Ranch. So, I have been fringing in the alternative field for 60 years which made it easy for me to seek the path I am on. In fact I would not have allowed BCG if it was Chemotherapy in the usual sense of its use. BCG is a topical application and only held in the bladder two hours as explained earlier.
There will be no standard Chemo Therapy or Radiation in my future!
There will be adjustments to my protocol and, after my trip out west, I may initiate a Beet Juice protocol as well as possibly halting the Pau D'Arco and do some Essiac. However that will be discussed before making such a change.
Now I need to work with the Uro and change my exams from every 3 months to 6 and eventually annually.
